“War is the province of men, Eowyn.”
Eowyn: (internal) We’ll just see about that.

“Home is behind, the world ahead…”
This is one of the saddest scenes in the trilogy for me. The lyrics are taken from The Fellowship of the Ring book, and it’s a hobbit walking song that Pippin and Sam sing as they make their way across the Shire. Here, it takes on an eerie quality as Pippin (Billy Boyd) sings it sadly and softly, intercut with Faramir and his men riding towards what will likely be their deaths in Osgiliath.

I will forever be trying to wrap my head around the idea of Richard Armitage as a dwarf…the character design for Thorin is amazing though. Smart not trying to make him old and silver-haired. Even though that is how he is in the book, he’s still a great warrior, a mighty dwarf, and trying to make Armitage old is a no no.
Also, Martin Freeman is adorable.
